“Taste and see that The Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him!” Psalm 34:8
We cannot always know what lies ahead of us. Sometimes it feels as though we can barely wade through the murky waters that seem to flood out anything good in our lives. The dimness that has captured our focus surrounds us and threatens to pull us down. When even a glimmer of hope comes along, we tend to grasp it so tightly, as if our lives depend upon it. What is it? Where does the strength to rise up out of any grave situation with a vibrancy that can conquer the darkest night come from?
After receiving the news about my husband’s illness, we became overwhelmed by the love and support given to us by our families and friends. We were engulfed by such words of encouragement such as, “Keeping our fingers crossed,” “All will be okay, knock on wood,” and most of all, “You are in our thoughts and prayers.” All of these sentiments that were poured out so generously to us, made me realize that each person has a sense of inner hope, that when things have gone wrong, they can be made right again. No thought of giving up, only the drive to press on harder, to make things work out well.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
I think we’ve all had to face challenges in our lives that have brought us to the bottom…to the end of ourselves. I’ll admit, there have been times in my own life when I have wanted to sprout wings and fly away. But, you know what? I have found that I too have that drive, that willingness, to rise above my circumstances and prepare for the fight. I also know that I never have, nor will I ever have to step into the ring alone. Whether we choose to believe it or not, no one really steps into the ring, or the murky waters alone. I think that deep down inside, we all know this to be true. God is always there ready and willing to help us, and His love for us is greater and deeper than anything that we will ever face. This is very evident to me now more than ever, and I thank Him for showing me this through the love and caring that has been bestowed upon me time and again.
May you also taste and see. May you experience His inexhaustible love and help today and always.
Peace and love,
Felecia
