What Lies Within You

What Lies Within You

What are the things that lie within you?  What are the things that make you who you are? Do you know for certain?

“Finally, brothers, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.” Philippians 4:8

What Lies Within You

Is it the beauty from the flowers that speckled the road that you traveled,

on that gorgeous afternoon last spring?

Is it the warmth of the sun that beamed down it’s blinding rays,

on that lazy day at the beach not long ago this summer?

Is it the golden, red, and purple hues that colored your view,

on that walk in the woods this very autumn? Continue reading

Enduring

Enduring

“Enduring,” graphite pencil drawing by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Enduring

Goodness, love, mercy,

charity, faith, hope,

these are all the things,

that enable me to cope.

When life is challenging,

when I want to give up,

I think on these things,

and The Lord fills my cup. Continue reading

Random Thoughts

random thoughts

Random Thoughts

My mind is scattered;

little broken pieces,

Thoughts racing ahead of me,

and they just don’t fit!

This way, that way,

where do I go next?

Stop for a moment?

There’s no time for that!

Always more to be done.

Will it ever end?

Now the day is over,

And another one has begun!

God Came Down to Me

God Came Down to Me

“Pale Pink Cosmos”, Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

This poem was written by my niece and Goddaughter, Alexia, as a Christmas present to my husband and me several years ago.  I was very touched by it, because I know that it revealed so much of her heart.  Thank you Alexia, for being the precious niece that you are to me.

God Came Down to Me

A poem by Alexia D. Ghering

Each time I walked with eyes cast down

and felt too weak to reach God in prayer,

it was then, he came down to me,

As he watched my footsteps falter.

Within my heart, he poured out his grace,

and gave me strength to walk on farther; Continue reading

Peace

Peace -pink peony

Peace

What do you think of when you think of “peace?”  What imagery comes to your mind?  I recently went to a concert at the site where the original Woodstock Music Festival was held…the well-known “peace sign” spoke its message throughout that place.  At the burial site at my grandmother’s funeral, a flock of white doves was released into the air…I remember thinking of how “peaceful” they looked as they dressed the skies with their quiet beauty.  Sometimes, I think of it when the splendor of a breathtaking piece of music makes its way through my ears and into my soul, and I pause for a moment to let it serenade my heart with its melody.

Peace. It means so many things to so many people. Continue reading

Thoughts of You…

Thoughts of You

“Iris Blossoms”, Lew Eliacopoulos (Festibrate.com)

Thoughts of You…let this be for whomever you need it to be.

I shared this poem, “Thoughts of You…”, with my sister Marjorie, a while back.  After reading it, she asked me, “Who was that one about?”  My answer:

“Hmmmm, what a question!  Interesting, when I write, things just kind of come to me, I don’t always have anyone in mind, really.  My words come from dormant emotions that demand to be released.  It’s like, I close my eyes, deafen my ears, and let my feelings take over.  They dance upon the keyboard; they make their own music.  I can’t do it any other way.  It’s more pure when I don’t attach anyone to what I write.  That way each piece kind of has its own identity…it stands alone, apart from boundaries, not confined; free to just ‘be’.  Continue reading

Silence

Silence - Black Dog

“Black Lab” graphite pencil drawing, Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Silence

I waited for you all day long,

but you would not come…silence.

My heart cried out to you,

but you would not hear me…silence.

My arms reached out for you,

but you refused my embrace…silence.

My tears are shedding, I am broken,

but you do not care…silence. Continue reading

Sisters, so far, yet so close.

Although my sisters are far away, I feel so close to them.

Sisters - Marjorie

“Marjorie” My big sister; full of life and vibrancy!

My two sisters and I live quite a distance apart.  Marjorie, my older sister, lives in Ohio, while my younger sister, Andrea, lives in Pennsylvania.  Given our busy schedules, to travel to either location from where I am in New York, can be a challenge.  Continue reading
