In An Instant

In an instant

In an instant – Life is so fragile, how the moments go…in an instant, lives are taken, to where we don’t always know…

“…and suddenly there came a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison house were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were unfastened.”  Acts 16:26

In An Instant

Life is so fragile, how the moments go…

In an instant, lives are taken,

to where we don’t always know.

So time goes by, only memories day after day…

In an instant, a family torn apart.

A mother’s tears grow silent; in her heart they stay.

Oh the pain, of not knowing what’s next.

In an instant, world’s turned upside down…

Leaving loved ones confused and perplexed.

My God, my God, please tell us why!

In an instant, seasons change from light to dark.

Still no answer…just an echoing of our cry!

Then suddenly, it happens…can it be true?

In an instant it’s over…shadows lift…light pours in.

No matter the reason…God our praise and thanks go to you!

In an instant – Life can change overnight.  Things we think can never happen, do. Things we often take for granted can be rocked so hard, our foundations threaten to crack. Those are the times that make or break us, and we have no choice but to go through them.

When the pressures of life become so intense, and your fragile world is shattered, remember that God is only an instant away.  If he is your foundation, it doesn’t matter how deep or wide the chasm. For what God allows to break, he always puts back together again stronger and more beautifully than before.

This post is dedicated to our “Little Princes”…you boys light up our world.  Thanking God for showing us that no matter how delicate life appears…with him as our foundation, there is nothing that he cannot put back together again.

Peace and love,

Felecia

The Best of Me

best of me

The Best of Me – As with every struggle, disappointment, or challenge we face in life  -no matter how large or small- God’s grace is always sufficient for whatever we need…

“If there is no struggle, there is no progress.”  Frederick Douglass

The Best of Me

It’s been one of those days,

The kind that got me good…

No matter how hard I tried,

Couldn’t get to the things I thought I should.

These twenty-four hours

Sure got the best of me…

Worked from sun up to sundown,

One thing then another…no end could I see.

I threw up my hands,

Saying, “God, I don’t know what to do!”

And I kept plugging away,

Until all my work was through!

Yes, today was a day,

That surely got the best of me,

Lots of things got accomplished…

Looking back…now I see.

It’s funny how that happens,

when it seems all time is lost,

Then to realize, the best things in life

Come at a higher cost.

Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com  2018

The best of me…some days are like that, it seems no matter how much effort I put forth, there’s even more left to do. One thing leads to the other, and well…you know how it goes!  When I’m in the midst of that kind of day,  the workload gets the best of me.  My focus is on all of the tasks that keep popping up begging for my attention…instead of the outcome that awaits me when I’m all done!

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.””  –2 Corinthians 12:

Like I wrote in my poem…I pummeled through until I got all of my work done, but it wasn’t until I was finished that I realized just how much got accomplished…and not by me alone.  As with every struggle, disappointment, or challenge we face in life  -no matter how large or small- God’s grace is always sufficient for whatever we need.  When I felt that indeed the day had gotten the best of me, that’s when God stepped in and provided His best for me!

When your day seems like it’s going to get the best of you, rememberyou need not worry about the tasks at hand, for God in His goodness can handle every demand.

Peace and love,

Felecia

I Matter

I Matter

I matter, though the world may not see…gonna reveal to the world all the gifts God has given me…

“It’s not what has happened to you.  It’s who you become because of it.”  – Ria Story

I Matter

I matter, you must know…

Within me a seed was planted, so long ago.

Yeah, I’ve made mistakes; haven’t we all?

But something inside me picks me up when I fall.

I matter, can you tell? Can’t you see?

There’s this power that resides in the deepest part of me.

Oh, I know, I’m quiet, polite and shy…

But, I’ve grown my wings…now it’s time for me to fly.

I matter, though the world may not see…

Gonna reveal to all, the gifts God has given me.

A life well-lived is not to keep to oneself…

So I’m opening myself up, like taking a book off the shelf.

I matter, what I have is unique and worth sharing…

And to everyone in my life, thanks for all of your love and caring.

I Matter – The truth is, everyone matters, but sometimes we are the last ones to realize it.  We all have been endowed with  gifts that are uniquely our own. Be they talents for music, art or writing, having an aptitude for working well with numbers, or being able to build or fix things with ease…we all have something to offer others…including our own life experiences.

My challenge to you is to determine what it is you do best…that thing that makes you matter…and share it with those around you.  Sharing a part of yourself with others is what makes you matter the most!

Peace and love,

Felecia

One Step at a Time

One Step

“First Steps” Photograph property of OntheWingofaDove.com (2018)

One step at a time

”In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.”  Proverbs 16:9

One step at a time

One step at a time,

So many directions,

Like typing out words,

Without making corrections.

We spin and we toil,

For most of our days.

When things fall apart,

It seems none of the effort pays!

One step at a time,

That’s all we can do.

For God has the answers,

I know first hand that is true.

So stop for a moment,

Although time won’t stand still.

You’ll be much better off,

When you seek and follow His will.

Felecia R. Weber, 2018, OntheWingofaDove.com

One step at a time, that seems simple doesn’t it?  If you’ve ever watched a baby take his first steps, you’ll realize that it’s not such an easy thing to do. When it comes to navigating through life’s paths, it doesn’t get any easier.  We’ve so many choices, so many responsibilities, so many demands, that sometimes we find ourselves simply standing still!  When that happens one step at a time may well be all we can handle, but not on our own.

One Step

As described in the well known “Footprints in the Sand” quote, when life gets to be overwhelming and we turn to God for help, he is not only there with us every step of the way, he carries us when we’ve lost our way.  He leads us to where he wants us to be…one step at a time.

Shout out to my sister, Marjorie…Happy birthday sister…I love you!

Joy Comes in the Morning

joy

Linda Celeste Sims in Ailvin Ailey’s American Dance Theater‘s “Cry.” Photograph by Paul Kolnik

Joy comes in the morning for those walking in the power of the Lord…

“For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘He will lead them to springs of living water.’  ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.'” Revelation 7:17

Joy Comes in the Morning

(A poem dedicated to my dad, Edward Hyford Myers)

When evening fall it’s hard to see what’s just ahead;

Our vision is clouded as dusk turns into night.

A heaviness forms and hovers over us;

And we feel we can no longer fight.

Death seems like the ultimate end;

For in it seemingly there is no hope.

The heart stops beating, the last breath is drawn;

and those left behind struggle to cope.

But, as the night moves on and the dawn draws near,

A lightness breaks and encircles the earth.

A newness of life fills the hearts of all beings;

and joy comes in the morning full of hope as with the newness of birth.

we needn’t be troubled by yesterday’s fears,

The brightness of day blossoms like a budding flower.

For death has been conquered, everlasting life abounds.

Joy comes in the morning for those walking in the Lord’s power.

Felecia R. Weber 2016, OntheWingofaDove.com

Over these past couple of weeks since my father’s passing, my heart has been filled with many powerful emotions.   During the times, when I remember how he suffered during his illness, I feel a heaviness as though night has filtered through and darkened my mind.  It saddens my heart to know that I can no longer hear his gentle voice; feel his love for me through his wisdom, guidance and advice; or  gaze upon his kind face while feeling so fortunate that my own bears such a close resemblance to his.  But then, when I think of that moment when he quietly passed on from this life, I can’t help but feel a sense of hope.  For I know that for daddy, joy truly did come in the morning, and he will forever more experience the brilliance of a new day dawning.

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, our beings transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”  2 Corinthians 3:18

joy

Edward Hyford Myers, September 10, 1930 – May 20, 2016

I am grateful to the Lord for blessing my life with such a precious father.  Today and as long as I live, I will rejoice and celebrate his life.   Rest in peace daddy, I love you with all my heart…until we meet again.

Peace and love,

Felecia

When We Cannot See

when we cannot see

Photograph courtesy of Lisa Richter

When we cannot see with our eyes, it is time to see with our hearts…

“The sun does not shine for a few trees and flowers, but for the wide world’s joy.”  Henry Ward Beecher

I often wonder what goes on around us unseen and unspoken. My thoughts have taken me to some unfamiliar places lately – sometimes it is as though the Lord has removed a veil that I had not been able to peer beyond before.  What He has shown me are things that were always there… I am just understanding them in a whole new light.

The photograph taken by my dear friend Lisa at Presque Isle State Park in our home town, inspired this poem. In a way, I believe the photograph depicts more of what my heart wants to say than my words do…

When We Cannot See

When we cannot see with our eyes,

What God is doing behind the scenes,

We can feel that something is happening,

But only in His timing will it be revealed.

When we cannot see

When days are murky like a rain-threatened sky;

Our vision is clouded by our daily affairs,

But when the skies brighten by the promise of the sun’s light,

Then we see with a clarity and joy…nothing is hidden and all is out in the open.

When we cannot see

We must be still and listen, taking in all that is around us.

Sometimes we observe more than what we’ve wanted;

And other times it is as though we are completely blind.

Rest assured, when we seek what God has placed before us,

We will see not with our eyes, but with our hearts…

And we will be filled.

On Healing

On Healing

healingA Quote to Carry You

March 7, 2016

“If Nature has made you a giver, your hands are born open, and so is your heart; and though there may be times when your hands are empty, your heart is full, and you can give things out of that.” Frances Hodgson Burnett

On healing – Although we’ve had a very mild winter this year, it seems like cold and flu season is in full force right now.  So many people in my circle have been suffering from the sniffles, coughs, and the general “blahs” that go along with it.  When I think of all the medications that promise fast relief, it makes me think of how, if given the opportunity, the human body is well equipped to bring about physical healing on its own.  To take that marvelous ability even deeper, I can’t help but think of how amazing God has provided for healing of the heart…and the way it, in turn illuminates our very souls.

Thankfully, I have not succumbed to the cold germs floating around in the air, but I’ve become well acquainted with ailments of the heart, and I’ve discovered that the remedy for those types of maladies cannot be bought.  For me, that kind of healing begins, not when I take something to remove the discomfort of pain, rather, it happens when I give something…then I receive the healing I need.

It is so easy to get caught up with ourselves, trying to filler fix the areas of our lives that are empty or hurting.  Like taking medications for fast relief of our physical discomforts, we so often try desperately to satisfy what it is that we lack deep down inside.  It is not an easy task…and how we go about gratifying ourselves sometimes has the opposite effect.  It seems to me that the solution is more fully attained when we forget about what we lack and focus on what we have.  For it is then that we realize that what is missing from our lives doesn’t matter as much as what we have to offer to others.  Then we find that we do not lack anything at all…but we have everything…to give.

The healing power of giving has certainly been demonstrated in my own life.  It is true; when I concern myself with giving what I have to others, and there are so many ways that I have been blessed to do so, not only has healing happened at my heart level…it spills over into every aspect of my world.  For is there really anything that we possess that is worth having if we don’t share it with those around us?

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”  Matthew 5:16

Peace and love,

Felecia

For Those Who Walk Alone

those who walk alone

Photograph courtesy of Ray Flanagan rflanaganphotography.wordpress.com

For those who walk alone – a poem dedicated in celebration of my precious one’s birthday, February 9th…Happy Birthday Steve…I will always love you.

For Those Who Walk Alone

For those who walk alone,

There is a privilege, grace and power.

Our strength has no limits, our wisdom abounds…

We walk in a realm all our own.

For those who walk alone,

It’s not a life to be pitied or unnoticed.

Our tears never weigh us down,

They cleanse our hearts, to enable a new harvest to grow.

For those who walk alone,

Remember always, you are never alone truly,

For although God walks with us, side by side,

He was there in the past behind us…and tomorrow, He is already there.

Felecia R. Weber 2016, OntheWingofaDove.com

One of the most powerful memories that I have of my late husband happened on the night that he passed.  It seemed he’d been in dreamlike state throughout that day.  Amazingly, he walked around the house, up and down the stairs, traveled in the car to his doctor’s office for hydration, just like a “normal” day in his life as a cancer patient.  He was his usual soft spoken, good-natured, courteous self.  I knew in my heart that indeed that could be his last day here with us on earth, but it seemed like he was already somewhere between here and heaven.

As you can imagine, by that stage, the disease had taken its horrible toll on him.  He had wasted away to only a shadow of the man he’d always been.  That late afternoon, however, as he rested. stretched out on the bed in the haze of the dimming sunlight, there was a wholeness and serenity to him that I’ll never forget.  As he lay quietly on the bed, he stretched out his left arm and held it there for a long while.  He wore a slight smile on his face.  All I could imagine is that he was being gently ushered into his true home, to be with our lord.  As I stood next to the bed just gazing upon that peaceful sight, I closed my eyes, and through the lenses of hope and truth, I could see my Stephen, confidently walking toward the light, toward our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Now as I continue to walk alone, here on earth, I replay that image in my mind…what calmness, what peace…what a treasure our Lord is for those who walk alone.

“However, as it is written:  ‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human has conceived’ – the things God has prepared for those who love him.”  1 Corinthians 2:9

Peace and love,

Felecia
