At the end of myself…where I truly begin.

“I never voyaged so far in all my life.” Henry David Thoreau

It seems strange to say it, but I have an overwhelming sense at the moment, that I am exactly where I am supposed to be in life.  A place that has taken some time for me to reach.  It is a place that I call being at the end of myself.  Wait a minute, you may be thinking…where is she going with this?  Here, let me explain.

I suppose one would describe me as being an individual who is disciplined, hard working, driven, and not afraid to step outside of the box or to take on a challenge.  I never want to miss out on an opportunity that will allow me to improve myself, especially when it comes to my creative interests.  At the same time, there is a part of me that is vulnerable; not always so confident that I can achieve what I set out to do; not always certain that I am heading in the right direction.   Continue reading

Resting in Him

Resting in Him

Resting in Him, trusting in Him, then I am at peace with myself and those around me.

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.”  Psalm 23:1-3

Resting in Him

Resting in Him,

there is no other way.

Resting in Him,

to be at peace today. Continue reading

To be transformed

to be transformed

“To be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2)

I have often pondered the valuable instruction that comes from this verse from scripture; to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”  Granted, I have not always followed it; I am too stubborn and wanting to do things my own way so much of the time.  When I choose to take control and essentially, say to God, “I’ve got this, I can handle it,” those are the times that He leads me right back to this verse.  But it’s my mind, it’s my body, I argue and rationalize time and again.  However, when I think about it, I never really have or handle anything apart from my faith, and it is only when I walk in it, that my mind is renewed and I am transformed. My God Is An Awesome God

My god is an awesome god

My God is an awesome God…my portion, my strength, my all.

I begin most days with prayer and meditation during my morning workouts.  The places my mind travels to while running those miles on the treadmill, set the framework for how I deal with whatever challenges I may face.  Recently, the verse from scripture below spoke to me and everything that it inspired within me, is what I’ve written in this poem.  May your day be filled with the things that inspire you as well.

“Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for The Lord God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6) Continue reading

Love, the heart of the matter

Love, the heart of the matter

A dear friend of mine once asked me what I thought about God, as related to His creation…

Love, the heart of the matter.

In my opinion, the human body is the most incredible of all created things…for it was created in God’s image. In His image;  what an awesome thing to ponder. We cannot comprehend it, yet, we are wonderfully made. Continue reading
