On Being Consistent

On Being Consistent

being consistentA Quote to Carry You

November 2, 2015

They might not need me; but they might.  I’ll let my head be just in sight; a smile as small as mine might be precisely their necessity.”  Emily Dickinson

On being consistent – I always smile when I think of my sisters and the of the silly little things that we share.  My younger sister always proclaims, “Baby order!,” whenever the three of us are standing or sitting in the order in which we were born.  My older sister, Marjorie, and I usually respond by rolling our eyes or saying, “Oh brother!,” then we all chuckle.  When Andrea most recently announced that we were in our birth order, I remember thinking to myself, it doesn’t make a difference which side my two sisters are on when they are next to me, I am the middle child, so my place is always the same.  In fact, that is essentially true for all of us.  No matter who is in front of us or behind us, it doesn’t change who we are.  I believe that being consistent in our behavior plays a big part in who we are…and how others interpret us.

We are all creatures of habit to some degree or another.  As we follow the same pattern of doing things or acting a certain way over a period of time, we actually develop a consistent quality of character.  Eventually, those around us recognize and identify those traits as being part of who we are.  If you ask any member of my family what type of person I am, I can say with certainty that they will mention those traits in which I am most  consistent…determined, strong-willed, sincere, to name a few.  Good or bad, what is more important than the type of person our consistent behaviors represent about who we are, is how we demonstrate them in our lives.

Being consistent in character, building the foundation of who others see you to be…may those around you always find a positive example in you.

Peace and love,

Felecia

Something About Being a Father

Being a father

There’s something about being a father…to his family he is their  protector, provider and friend.

“I cannot think of any need in childhood as strong as the need for a father’s protection.”  Sigmund Freud

Something About Being a Father

There’s something about being a father,

to his family he is their protector, provider and friend.

There is nothing that he will keep from his precious ones,

for a father’s responsibility…does it ever end?

There’s something about being a father,

his love swells when he gazes into his child’s eyes.

A father provides instruction, guidance and encouragement;

his character imparts a steadfast integrity; never will he compromise.

There’s something about being a father,

by setting a consistent and honorable example he leads.

No matter what circumstances hurl themselves at their lives,

a father unselfishly strives to meet his family’s needs.

My best wishes to all father, for a very Happy Father’s Day!

Peace and love,

Felecia

On Power

On Power

on powerA Quote to Carry You

October 20, 2014

“Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.”  Abraham Lincoln

Power can be a two-edged sword.  It can be a weapon that pierces straight through to the heart or an instrument that cuts away at what is troublesome and unnecessary, allowing for growth and even prosperity.  When power is abused, death and destruction are sure to follow.  Power used properly, can be a light to all the world.

Power reveals what resides within one’s soul.  What does your “power” consist of?

Peace and love,

Felecia

I Can Read It On Your Face

I Can Read It On Your Face

I can read it on your face…an expression, a look can tell others what we hold inside.

I Can Read It On Your Face

(a poem dedicated to my precious husband Stephen Cullen Weber)

I can read it on your face.

When something causes you to fear.

You needn’t worry, for I am always near.

I can read it on your face.

When a wrong fills you up with anger.

I admire your willingness to help others in danger.

I can read it on your face.

Shown through your gentle brown eyes so kind,

the compassionate spirit that fills your heart and mind.

I can read it on your face.

You are strong, courageous and brave.

Your character is always consistent in how you behave.

I can read it on your face.

When you are filled with pain and sorrow.

You never complain, yet you seek the hope of tomorrow.

I can read it on your face.

All of the love that you have for me.

I cannot express in words dear, how very much you mean to me.

Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.” 1 Corinthians 13:1

Sometimes a certain look is all that it takes to convey so much more than words can ever speak.  The eyes can express a feeling so deeply that it touches ones heart in a way that no other form of communication can transmit.  At times, the voice is useless in relaying what needs to be said.

Peace and love,

Felecia
