Memories

Memories…how rich they make us even though money has nothing to do with them; they are part of us and can never be taken away.

There is something about this time of year, the rustling of the leaves when the wind weaves its autumn melody between them.  The heartwarming smells of hearty soups or rich, hot chocolate wafting through the air on a crisp and chilly evening. These are the types of images that remind me of a time long ago.  They cause me to want to take a glimpse into my childhood memories.  The place where the foundation of my life is rooted and that has enriched so many of my days.

“Childhood is the most beautiful of all life’s seasons” (Author Unknown)

The Good Old Days

The Good Old Days

“Pale Roses,” photograph by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

They say “there’s no time like the present,” but I’ll never forget “the good old days!”

The Good Old Days

The good old days were times when life was simpler,

there seemed not so much to worry about.

We lived today for today, and tomorrow for tomorrow.

The good old days had a slower pace,  a soothing cadence,

no frenzied chaos, no need to be instantaneous.

The good days were times when life seemed a bit sweeter,

when “stopping to smell the roses” was not just a saying.

The good old days were times that we can never really go back and visit,

but we can hold onto our memories of them, where they will always exist.

Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

May you never forget your “good old days”…let them fill your days with the all of the things that you cherish and hold dear about them.

Peace,

Felecia

“Those who have served, they know truly what it means to sacrifice.  Those who have served, they know how precious life is.”  Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Sending my heartfelt gratitude to all those brave men and women who have served in our armed forces throughout the years.  Your selfless commitment to defending, protecting and preserving what we as a nation hold dear will never be forgotten.

Happy Veterans Day

Peace,

Felecia

Nope, not going there…

Nope, not going there...

“Glorious,” photograph by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Nope, not going there…tomorrow is for tomorrow, today is for today!

Left unto myself, I am a worrier.  I think it is because I am such a detail-oriented person by nature, that I get way too wrapped up in the tasks that need to be done and how I am going to accomplish them.  It doesn’t matter if I am planning to do something that I enjoy or if it is something that I consider to be burdensome, I still get caught up in the details!  At times, it takes me longer to plan out how I am going to execute a project  or whatever it may be, than it actually takes me to do  it. “Nope, not going there!” is what I say, when I find myself spending more time today,  planning for what needs to be done tomorrow. The details, the details; sometimes they cause my head to spin! STOP!

Stop!

Stop!…it seems so easy, but it can be one of the hardest things to do!

STOP!

Slow down, take it easy, do not go so fast,

don’t rush through life, pause and reflect on the past.

Today is here now for us to enjoy,

tomorrow has enough of its own to employ.

When we stop and rest and take each moment in,

we may just be surprised at where the best things begin.

Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:33-34

A Quote to Carry You – November 4, 2013

A quote to carry youA Quote to Carry You

November 4, 2013

“So I say to you, do not worry about your life – what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear.  Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air.  They do not sow or reap or gather into barns; yet your Father in heaven feeds them.  Are you not of more value than they?  And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow.  They neither toil nor spin.  Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.  Now if in this way God clothes the grass – which is here today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow – will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?” Matthew 6:25-30

Got worries?…not any more!

Peace to you,

Felecia

I Once Was Lost

I Once Was Lost

I Once Was Lost…but now am found…

“Amazing grace produces amazing faith!” Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Isn’t it funny how seeing an image or hearing a phrase can bring to mind a certain tune, or a specific time and place that comes alive from your memory to the present?  That happened to me recently when I came across the words, “I once was lost.”  Can you guess what song immediately popped into my head when I read those words?  You’ve probably guessed right; that old, familiar hymn,  “Amazing Grace.”

Once that song entered into my mind, it stayed with me for a long time. Continue reading
