There are many types and levels of friendship, but the truest and deepest ones, they are what I love the most.
Let’s face it, developing a friendship can be hard work. We all have our own idiosyncrasies and deep down, we all have the tendency to put ourselves first. That’s just part of being human. Another thing that we all have in common, is the need to be loved and cared for in some way or another. I believe that it is the balancing of all of these factors that makes for a true, fulfilling and worthwhile friendship.
“A friend loveth at all times” Proverbs 17:17
The depth of a friendship depends upon so many things. It has been my experience that, similar to the building of character in an individual, a strong friendship requires both the best of times and the worst of times to last through all times. I like to think of a lasting friendship as a mosaic that has been pieced together bit by bit, from all of those times, the good and the bad. The glue that holds those precious pieces together is the love that grows and blossoms with the memory of each one.
I have been doing a great deal of reflecting these days. Looking back at the times that I have shared with my own dear friends. It doesn’t matter how long it has been since I have been in touch with them all. Some I am in contact with almost daily, others months may go by without a single word. The love that I have for them, however, transcends the miles, the busy schedules, or whatever it is that keeps us apart. I know that we’ll just pick up the pieces of our own mosaics and fit them perfectly in place again when we are reunited.
Friendship, loving, giving, taking, sharing, being together, being apart. It is for all of these things and so much more that I am grateful. For friendship…for those I call “friend”.

Such a well written post Felecia… so very true. So many different types (and levels) of friendship. Reminds me of a Groucho Marx quote that was something to the effect of “A good friend is someone you can call to post bail… a GREAT friend is sitting next to you in the jail cell saying “that was fun!” LOL.
Thanks Ray…hah, I LOVE that quote…it says so much about what friends will do for each other!
And, what a wonderful friend you are… Thank you!
Love,
Felecia
