When the enemy strikes…how do you win the battle?
“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life. You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes; with your right hand you save me.” Psalm 138:7
The word enemy is defined as someone who hates another or something that harms or threatens someone or something. With such a sobering definition, having an enemy is a foreboding prospect. I doubt that anyone welcomes the thought of having an enemy, but there are times when I feel that I am being attacked by all sorts of “enemies” from every direction in life.
For me, the most dangerous enemies that seem to foil me, are those “things” that threaten to disrupt my daily plans. They can be such ordinary annoyances, like the harsh winter weather we’ve been having, or the more serious concerns, such as my husband’s illness that we’ve faced these past months. Whatever they may be, it sometimes seems as though the supply of ammunition that frustrating situations carry with them is never ending. During the heat of battle, when one issue arises after the other, oftentimes the harder I fight to keep each problem under control, the more I am forced to retreat to the trench and regroup.
These enemies, these things that creep in and threaten to overtake my peace and to spoil my joy are real, and they are always present to some degree or another. But, are they true enemies? Do they really have the power to defeat me?
The magnitude of our problems can be deceptive in that they can seem too formidable to conquer. Many situations in life can bring us to the breaking point and cause us to surrender and to ultimately give up hope.
I can tell you for certain that you needn’t ever wave the white flag, you need only to open your heart. There is nothing on earth that, with God’s help, cannot be defeated. When we let go and leave the fighting to Him, in the end, we not only win the battle, but He also heals our wounds and restores us. When we invite God to take charge, no enemy can prevail.
Peace,
Felecia

We always focus on the big problems in life, but forget that it’s the little things that can cause the most problems.
True, and focusing on the problems steals our joy…I need to keep remembering that!

Thanks Mom! Yes, problems can be as chilling as that frozen image…thankfully God’s love and provision has the power to melt through the “ice” in our lives and warm our hearts so we can live fully without fear.
I love you,
Felecia
Amen, Felicia! We can do ask things with Chrst leading the way!
Indeed Doris, and that is the only way, His way, that I want to follow!:-)
Love in Him,
