STOP!

Stop!

Stop!…it seems so easy, but it can be one of the hardest things to do!

STOP!

Slow down, take it easy, do not go so fast,

don’t rush through life, pause and reflect on the past.

Today is here now for us to enjoy,

tomorrow has enough of its own to employ.

When we stop and rest and take each moment in,

we may just be surprised at where the best things begin.

Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:33-34

Who Can Match This?

Who Can Match This?

Who Can Match This?

You are there and you hear me when I call out your name.

I am never disappointed; I am always amazed.

You give me clear guidance when I know not where to turn.

You make my paths straight; my horizon is clear. Continue reading

Going Farther…

Going Farther

“Daydreaming,” photograph of my niece Leia Gabrielle

Going Farther

Long is the road that we travel in life,

From the fullness of joy, to raging anger and strife.

There are hidden pathways that lure us away,

they distract us for a season, or perhaps just one day.

Doors fling wide open, then slam closed and  tightly shut, Continue reading

What Lies Within You

What Lies Within You

“Penelope Unraveling Her Work at Night.” (Detail), 1881, Dora Wheeler. Image from a page of the 2011 Desk Calendar, courtesy of The Metropolitan Museum of Art Store

What are the things that lie within you?  What are the things that make you who you are? Do you know for certain?

“Finally, brothers, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.” Philippians 4:8

What Lies Within You

Is it the beauty from the flowers that speckled the road that you traveled,

on that gorgeous afternoon last spring?

Is it the warmth of the sun that beamed down it’s blinding rays,

on that lazy day at the beach not long ago this summer?

Is it the golden, red, and purple hues that colored your view,

on that walk in the woods this very autumn? Continue reading

Enduring

Enduring

“Enduring,” graphite pencil drawing by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Enduring

Goodness, love, mercy,

charity, faith, hope,

these are all the things,

that enable me to cope.

When life is challenging,

when I want to give up,

I think on these things,

and The Lord fills my cup. Continue reading

My Little Friend

My Little Friend

My little friend “Bilbo”

My Little Friend…some friends have more than two feet!

This poem was inspired by my little four-legged friend, our Yorkie named “Bilbo”.  He is living proof that friends come in all sizes, shapes, and they are not always human!

My Little Friend

My Little Friend

“Bilbo”…a little tuckered out after a few too many rounds of playing fetch!

My little friend is cute

and oh so funny.

He is warm, cuddly,

and as sweet as honey.

He barks, a lot, he loves attention,

he loves to walk, to play,

and to bark, did I mention? Continue reading

A Song in My Heart

A Song in My Heart

“Two Young Girls at the Piano” (Detail), 1892, Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Image taken from a page of the 2011 Desk Calendar, courtesy of The Metropolitan Museum of Art Store

I have a song in my heart today!

“Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.  For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.”  Psalm 33:3-4

A Song in My Heart

I have a song in my heart today,

oh my, it’s a happy one!

I can’t get it out of my head;

it’s playing over and over.

I have a song in my heart today,

oh how it makes me smile! Continue reading

For the Eye of the Beholder

for the eye of the beholder

“Sparkle,” graphite pencil drawing, Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Art is what you make it…

An artist sees the world as a blank canvas; he interprets it in his own way.  It becomes a new creation, a gift waiting to be opened and enjoyed by all who gaze upon it.

For the Eye of the Beholder

Beautiful, lovely, gorgeous,

Sensual, attractive, appealing,

Dark, deep, solemn,

Wild, lively, vibrant,

A shape, a mood, a feeling,

An object, cold and abstract,

Something heartwarming and desirable, Continue reading
