Into the Woods

Into the woods…a new year is here!

Into the Woods

A new year is dawning; like stepping into the woods.

Is it bright and fragrant, the sun’s rays pouring through?

As tree branches stretch high, to touch the sky’s brilliant blue.

A new year is dawning; like stepping into the woods.

Is it dark, cold and damp, a scary place to be?

With twists and turns that won’t let you free. Continue reading

What Child Is This?

What Child is This?

“Two Angels” (One of two fragments), 1300-1324, Northern Italian Painter, First Quarter 14th Century. Image taken from a page of the 2013 Desk Calendar, courtesy of The Metropolitan Museum of Art Store

What Child Is This?

What child is this?

They spoke of him long ago,

his life, his purpose, his death all foretold.

The wise men journeyed to worship him,

even still, to this day, he cannot be ignored.

What child is this?

A babe lying in a manger, Continue reading

A Humble Gift

A Humble Gift

“A Humble Gift,” photograph by Lew Eliacopoulos, Festibrate.com

A Humble Gift

A humble gift was given to us,

on that night so quiet and still.

No grandeur, no frills, no hype,

just the sheep grazing on a far off hill.

A humble gift was given to us,

there was something different about that birth.

The angel appeared, the shepherds gathered round,

ever since then, nothing has been the same on the earth.

A humble gift was given to us,

It’s not visible, we can’t touch it with our hand,

but it surrounds us in the air, the sea and the land.

This gift that was given, indeed it is real, and its promise is sure,

won’t you reach out, won’t you and receive it; and forever be secure.

Oh the Joy!

Oh the Joy

“Oh the Joy,” graphite & colored pencils drawing by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Oh the Joy!

Oh the joy, and the love that this season brings,

each day I’m reminded of many favorite things.

The chill in the air is so sparkling and clear,

the laughter, the singing, the voices full of cheer.

The oven filled with cookies and other sweet treats,

shoppers dashing around as their cars fill the streets.

The children bundled up and ready for much fun,

making snowmen that threaten to melt in the sun. Continue reading

Reflections

Reflections

“Vibrant Life,” photograph by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Reflections…turning back, looking ahead, where do we go from here?

Life

Life is full of surprises,

life is mundane,

life is fresh

and sometimes so plain.

But whatever life holds for you,

it is your own…live it to the fullest.

Never waste a single moment, for life is a gift.

Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Being the day after Thanksgiving, I can’t help but reflect upon what my life has been up until now.  At the same time, my eyes are wide open, full of anticipation of what awaits my life in the future.  What is past is safely locked away in my memory, but the door to tomorrow is wide open.  I think of the reflections of nature that hover over the ripples of a pool of water, when  a drop of rain splashes life into it.

I feel kind of like that right now.  Still, quiet, not wanting to move, just embracing the solitude of the moment.  Yet, there is something inside of me that is ready to burst forth, ready to stir my being into motion.  Standing before a mirror, my own reflection staring back at me.  Looking beyond myself to see what is behind me, which is actually ahead of me. An interesting perspective…peeking into both the past and the future all at once.

Reflections….turning back, looking ahead…where will you go from here?

Peace,

Felecia

Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving

Giving Thanks…a special thanks for all of the blessings of this life.

Giving Thanks

Giving thanks for so many things,

for the beauty that surrounds us,

for the work that satisfies us,

for the rest that restores us.

Giving thanks for all that we are,

and for all that we can become,

for the love and caring that is shared

between family and friends.

Giving thanks for the things that are from above,

for all that we can see and experience,

and for what we may never understand.

This tribute, this expression of gratitude,

can never compare to all that I have received,

but it is sincere, and full of love.

Giving thanks from deep within my heart.

Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  I Thessalonians 5:16-18

May blessings from above abound this day…Happy Thanksgiving!

Peace and love,

Felecia

It’s the Little Things

It's the Little Things

It’s the little things that fill up our lives and make them worth living…funny how the little things really aren’t so small.

It’s the Little Things

The way you call my name,

so tenderly, with such passion.

The way you draw me near, and hold my hand,

it’s the little things, that never go out of fashion.

The lovely surprises, the candy, perfume and flowers,

Your loving care, the security you provide,

Those quiet times we share together,

there’s nothing I love more than those special hours.

It’s the little things you do, that mean so much to me.

You can make me smile with a simple gesture,

and lift me up with a single word.

Especially in all of these things, it is your love that I see.

Thank you so much for all that you are,

for your courage, your honesty, your determination,

your compassion, your willingness to give,

and for knowing that at any moment your are never far.

In you God has given me so much more,

I never have imagined I could ever be so blessed.

You are my partner, my companion, my lover,

my friend, the one with whom we’ve so much yet to explore.

Felecia R. Weber, OnthewingofaDove.com

For my husband Stephen…I am grateful for all of the love you’ve shared with me over these past 26 years.  Happy Anniversary! 🙂

The Good Old Days

The Good Old Days

“Pale Roses,” photograph by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

They say “there’s no time like the present,” but I’ll never forget “the good old days!”

The Good Old Days

The good old days were times when life was simpler,

there seemed not so much to worry about.

We lived today for today, and tomorrow for tomorrow.

The good old days had a slower pace,  a soothing cadence,

no frenzied chaos, no need to be instantaneous.

The good days were times when life seemed a bit sweeter,

when “stopping to smell the roses” was not just a saying.

The good old days were times that we can never really go back and visit,

but we can hold onto our memories of them, where they will always exist.

Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

May you never forget your “good old days”…let them fill your days with the all of the things that you cherish and hold dear about them.

Peace,

Felecia
