God’s Open Arms

God’s open arms…I am so looking forward to seeing the face of Jesus…” (paraphrased) Stephen C. Weber

“Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.”  Psalms 126:5

God’s Open Arms

(a poem written in memory of the love of my life)

What do I think of when I think of heaven?

A flood of spectacular visions fill my mind.

The brightness of the light of our Lord;

the peaceful faces of those who have gone on before.

The radiance of pristine surroundings,

where darkness can never exist.

A place where there is no pain nor suffering at all;

only bodies newly washed clean and pure.

Sounds of exquisite songs of praise to our God,

for His majesty reigns eternal there.

Most of all, I think God’s open arms

waiting to welcome me home…and never let me go.

God's Open Arms

Stephen Cullen Weber, February 9, 1956 – August 13, 2014. Rest in peace my precious one…I love you forever.

I offer my sincere thanks to all of those who have expressed their love and caring towards Steve and me over these past several months, and now at his passing.  May God’s peace and blessings surround you now and always.

Love,

All That I Need

All that I need

Photograph courtesy of Martin Watson

All that I need is something that I have finally realized that I have had all along.

“I have the greatest of all riches: that of not desiring them.” Eleonora Duse

We all long for something.  Be it a tangible item or something that only the human heart can give…we all long for something.  We won’t rest until we get what we want, even when we can’t quite describe what it is.  Does that make sense?  It does to me. In fact, I have finally realized that what I have been longing for is something that I have had all along…I have all that I need.

All That I Need

It is not what surrounds me on the outside,

those things will come and go.

It is not some whim that suits me,

for they’ll surely vanish quickly I know.

It is not the things that I can buy,

for they get used up in a hurry.

It is not the treasures of this earth,

for they very often cause me to worry.

It is something intangible yet so real,

and it will never fade nor decay.

It is what fills my heart no matter what,

it is what keeps me from going astray.

It is God’s love…that is all I need,

He freely gives it to me at no cost.

It feeds me, it clothes me, it fills me up,

it satisfies me and with it I will never be lost.

With the love He provides, I need not search,

for it is unending and inexhaustible indeed.

No riches on earth can match what His love gives,

Yes, in Him I have all that I need.

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”  Psalm 73:26

May the love of God surround you and keep you abundantly full all of your days.

Peace and love,

Abundance – What’s in a word?

Abundance

Abundance – What’s in a word?

Wealth, fullness, having it all,

and never having to worry.

Security, prosperity, luxury,

overflowing, not ever having to hurry.

Might, power, contentment and ease,

never running out, doing what you please.

Abundance is like that and although it is very nice,

it should not be taken lightly, for it comes with a price.

Felecia R. Weber 2014, OntheWingofaDove.com

What’s in this word for you?  If you can tell me, please do!

Having an abundance of anything connotes the good things in life and having plenty of all that we could ever want or need.  Even though having anything in abundance often times requires hard work, commitment and determination, knowing that there are blessings overflowing around the corner makes it all worth it.

May an abundance of goodness shower you day.

Peace and love,

Felecia

A Quiet Time

Quiet Time

“Quiet,” photograph by Felecia R. Weber 2014, OntheWingofaDove.com

A quiet time is all I need to rest, refresh and renew.

“Oh that I had the wings of a dove; I would fly away and be at rest.”  Psalm 55:6

A Quiet Time

I need to get away, I need to rest.

A quiet time will spawn in me my best.

I need to stop and take a break…

a walk in the woods or a swim in a lake.

It doesn’t matter for how long, a day or a week;

it is just a quiet time; that is all I seek.

Too much busyness fills my days, to do, to do, to do.

A quiet time is all I need, to rest, refresh and renew!

Felecia R. Weber 2014, OntheWingofaDove.com

Wishing you much rest today…and perhaps a chance to get way!

Peace and love,

Felecia

My Family Tree

My Family Tree

“Family Pride,” a portrait of my niece Leia Gabrielle

My family tree.  My family heritage means more than glancing at old photographs on the wall…it is a part of who I am.

“Like branches on a tree, our lives may grow in different directions yet our roots remain as one.” (author unknown)

My Family Tree

(I dedicate this poem to my wonderful family)

A seed was planted long ago,

one man, one woman, how could they know?

That what they had started would ever be,

the beginning of my wonderful family.

As the branches sprouted, the generations grew,

like leaves of many colors, from many cultures they drew.

Each branch growing stronger, nourishing the others;

sharing talents and gifts between sisters and brothers.

Year after year, the family lives on for different reasons.

Adapting to changes as naturally as the seasons.

There is something that holds us together and we weather the tide;

all these things, family heritage, family love, family faith and family pride.

Felecia R. Weber 2014, OntheWingofaDove.com

May you always sense the richness of your own family heritage and honor those who’ve walked before you.

Peace and love,

Felecia

Generosity – What’s in a word?

Generosity

Generosity – What’s in a word?

Giving, fullness, abundance , love,

these are the things that come from above.

Charity, kindness, goodness, all three,

they make for a life full of generosity!

Felecia R. Weber 2014, OntheWingofaDove.com

What’s in this word for you?  If you can tell me please do!

For some reason, the word generosity makes me feel good.  It makes me feel as if something wonderful is happening.  When we are generous in our kindness towards others, well it makes the wisdom of Jesus’ instructions to “…do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” (Matthew 7:12) become alive.  It causes me to strive to make generosity a way of life.

May you live your generosity in a powerful way.

Peace and love,

Felecia

My Happiness, My Joy

My Happiness, My Joy

“The Singer In Green,” 1884, Edgar Degas. Image from a page of the 2012 Desk Calendar, courtesy of The Metropolitan Museum of Art Store

My happiness, my joy…it radiates like the sun; it’s like a flame of fire.

“You have put gladness in my heart.” Psalm 4:7

My Happiness, My Joy

My happiness, my joy,

I don’t always know how to describe it.

Sometimes it seems so far away;

it waivers from day to day.

My happiness, my joy,

It is more than just a feeling at times.

It makes me smile, and laugh, and sing aloud;

and I am like a vast, bright sky without a cloud.

My happiness, my joy,

When it’s in my heart it filters through my being.

It radiates like the sun; it’s like a flame of fire.

I feel free as a bird; as if I can soar higher and higher.

My happiness, my joy,

There is one thing about it that I know for sure.

It doesn’t come from the things of the world that surround me;

but rather, it comes from God’s love, which He gives so willingly.

Felecia R. Weber 2014, OntheWingofaDove.com

“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.”  John 15:11

May God’s love be the source of your happiness and your joy, today and always.

Peace and love,

Felecia
