Those Solitary Moments

Solitary moments

Those Solitary Moments – How rich they are at twilight and even more beautiful at dawn.

“There is something eerily peaceful about quiet times alone; like the calm before the storm.”  Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Those Solitary Moments

Those solitary moments,

when all is quiet, and faraway sounds seem to be near.

Those times should be embraced, for in them there is nothing to fear.

Sit still, and take in before you, the splendid panorama displayed.

Imagine yourself to be a part of them; do not let them quickly fade.

Those solitary moments,

oh, why are they so few and far between?

What is it that they provide for us?  From them what can we glean?

Sometimes they are mysterious; they are here and no sooner, they are gone.

But how rich they are at twilight and even more beautiful at dawn.

Solitary moments can provide so much for us long after we’ve actually experienced them.  May you absorb your solitary moments, tuck them away in your mind, and relive them when you most need them.

Peace and love,

Felecia

Toby, Remembering You

Toby, Remembering You

This is Toby, the beloved shih tzu and loyal friend of Ann Marie Hermes. Little Toby brought so much joy to Ann Marie for 14 years of his 16 years of life.

Toby, Remembering You – You were a true companion to me all those years.  So attentive, so steadfast, you were always by my side…

Toby, Remembering You

Toby, remembering you brings joy to my heart,

without you my life has not been the same.

You always made me laugh, my furry, playful boy.

And I still smile whenever I hear your name.

Toby, Remembering YouI never worried about anything when you were around.

You were a true companion to me all those years.

So attentive, so steadfast, you were always by my side.

My memories of you warm my soul; even through my tears.

Toby, Remembering YouToday, remembering you makes every day brighter, you meant so much to me.

Our trips to Alabama, your sense of adventure, the way you loved to explore.

Your sweet and gentle nature, your big round eyes, your fluffy, snow white fur.

Indeed, everything about you my little friend, will I always and forever adore.

Something About Being a Mother

Something about being a mother

This photograph captures what I tried to express in my poem below, “There’s Something About Being a Mother.” Pictured here is first-time mom Jennifer Spangler and her adorable baby girl, Lilli.

There is something about being a mother, that inseparable bond…between mother and child.

“Mother, the ribbons of your love are woven around my heart.”  Author Unknown

Something About Being a Mother

There is something about being a mother,

her love for her child creates an inseparable bond.

She sees every action, hears every word, she senses every thought.

Her love has no boundaries that her child can go beyond.

There is something about being a mother,

you have to experience being one to know…

how difficult, how wonderful, how caring for the needs of another,

can give you the strength to go to depths you otherwise would not go.

There is something about being a mother,

she gives all that she can for her precious child.

She teaches, she admonishes, she points to the best way to go.

No matter if she’s disappointed; her love is still tender and mild.

There is something about being a mother,

it is a privilege not every woman has known.

The awesome responsibility, the heartache, the joy.

She is like a beautiful blossom, that grows from a seed deeply sown.

My best wishes to all mothers, for a very Happy Mother’s Day!

Peace and love,

The Strength of a Woman

Strength of a woman

The strength of a woman…it is not always physical; for she is capable of so much more.

“She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.”  Proverbs 31:17

The Strength of a Woman

The strength of a woman,

goes beyond expectations.

It is not always physical;

for she is capable of so much more.

The strength of a woman,

how can one even touch the surface?

What may look like weakness to others,

is the very thing that fuels her power.

The strength of a woman,

though mysterious it may seem.

When her world seems to crumble before her,

she simply picks up the pieces and starts building again.

The strength of a woman,

it was uniquely created for her.

With it she has a purpose; with it she has life.

Nothing can destroy her; for her strength is grounded in God.

Felecia R. Weber 2015, OntheWingofaDove.com

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”  Proverbs 31:25

To all women…may you live powerfully in the strength that only God can provide.

Peace and love,

Felecia

A Beautiful Thing

A Beautiful Thing

Photograph courtesy of Martin Watson

A beautiful thing…There is a certain freedom in having less rather than more. When all of the adornments have been stripped away…

“I thought I was rich because I had this one flower; but I see that all I have is an ordinary rose…”  Antoine de Saint-Exupery (The Little Prince)

A Beautiful Thing

What do you have when you think you haven’t anything?

What you have…is a beautiful thing.

There is a certain freedom in having less rather than more.

When all of the adornments have been stripped away;

and all that is left is the bare wood, or the rust colored clay.

What is left when the shelf is empty, when the wall is blank?

What is left…is a beautiful thing.

How can one make something from nothing?

“That’s impossible,” one might say.

I beg to differ, there is purity, there is strength, there is dignity;

for when all is exposed and left out to decay…

only the solid pieces remain…building blocks that sustain.

So what do you have when all you have left are shattered parts that once were whole?

There you have it…a beautiful thing…a new creation…from the old is born the new.

It Just Feels Good

It just feels good

The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Alicia Graf Mack. Photograph courtesy of Andrew Eccles

It just feels good – It just feels good when things turn out for the best.  It is during those times that I can truly rest.

“As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.  Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!”  Luke 1:44-45

It Just Feels Good

It just feels good when good news comes;

it can make me so excited, I just want to scream!

There is so much around that can make me sad,

so I fully rejoice when good things outweigh the bad.

It just feels good when things turn out for the best,

it seems like a weight is removed from my shoulders.

It is during those times that I can truly rest.

It just feels good, when my night turns into day;

the light makes everything bright and new.

No more stumbling, or falling for me…

for my path is illuminated; I can clearly find my way.

Felecia R. Weber 2015, OntheWingofaDove.com

There is something about good news that just feels good.  Life is full of good things to celebrate…getting accepted into the college of your choice, being offered that new job you’ve been longing for, finding out that the first grandchild in the family is soon to be born…I could go on and on.  My inspiration for this poem came from the scripture verses above, where the baby in Elizabeth’s womb, who would grow up to be John the Baptist, leaped for joy when Mary, pregnant with Jesus Christ, arrived.  Unlike the joy that we have because of the wonderful things that we get to experience and celebrate here on earth, the infant John’s joy was based on something far better.  His joy was based on the promise of the coming of our Lord and Savior being fulfilled.  That is not news that just feels good…it is good…it is the Good News!

May your day be filled with the good things in life…and may your good news be the Good News that truly counts.

Peace and love,

Felecia

Joy – What’s in a word?

Joy

“A Fresh Start,” photograph by Felecia R. Weber 2015, OntheWingofaDove.com

Joy – What’s in a word? Feeling like spring is finally upon us, I can honestly say that I feel like jumping for joy!

Happiness, gladness, pleasure, delight.

When I have joy in my heart,

there is no sadness in sight!

Joy makes me feel radiant,

all shining and new.

As fresh as a field all covered in the morning dew!

Happy, delighted, pleased, glad…

What’s in this word for you?  If you can tell me, please do!

Joy is what I felt when I got glimpse of the brilliant yellow petals of the crocus blossom in the photograph above.  After experiencing one of the harshest winters and only just now feeling like spring is finally upon us, I can honestly say that I feel like jumping for joy!  It feels so wonderful to step outside to feed the birds, check the mail or even take out the garbage, when I am greeted at the door by the fresh warmth of the season.  I’ve noticed that my little dog Bilbo and I seem to linger longer on our morning and evening walks…the air is filled with joy!

May you be filled with a brightness today, and may you share your joy with others along the way.

Peace and love,

Felecia

Can You Feel What I Feel?

Can you feel what I feel

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Linda Celeste Simms in “Cry”. Photograph courtesy of Nan Melville

Can you feel what I feel?  The warmth of the fire that burns within me.  When your eye catches mine and we needn’t exchange words.

“Ever has it been that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation.”  Khalil Gibran

Can You Feel What I Feel?

Can you feel what I feel?

The warmth of the fire that burns within me.

When your eye catches mine and we needn’t exchange words.

The sun doesn’t have to be shining when love glows that brightly.

All is right, all is perfect between us, nothing can separate us, can it?

Can you feel what I feel?

The blackness that hovers around me now because you are not here.

The smothering pain that tightens with every breath that I take.

Everywhere I turn, emptiness fills the space that you once occupied.

It seems like a part of me is missing; I am incomplete.

Can you feel what I feel?

Of course, you must, yes I know that you can.

For there in your heart, even though invisible, it is there.

I know because it is deep within my heart too…

Love knows no boundaries, not even time nor space.

Can you feel what I feel?

The love that still exists between us, the love that still binds us.

Feel it, caress it, hold onto it tightly…and never let it go.

They say that love is just a feeling, an emotion at best.

But no, to me love is alive and it never stops growing…

Love is eternal…and it keeps you alive in my heart always.

Felecia R, Weber 2015, OntheWingofaDove.com

No matter what happens in life, or death, love is a power that binds.  Once it is born, nurtured and matures, it may take on various forms, but I believe it never truly dies.  May the love that you share with those who are dear to you always grow unhindered and live on in your hearts always.

Peace and love,

Felecia
