Taste and See

Taste and See

“Taste and see that The Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him!” Psalm 34:8

We cannot always know what lies ahead of us.  Sometimes it feels as though we can barely wade through the murky waters that seem to flood out anything good in our lives.  The dimness that has captured our focus surrounds us and threatens to pull us down.  When even a glimmer of hope comes along, we tend to grasp it so tightly, as if our lives depend upon it.  What is it? Where does the strength to rise up out of any grave situation with a vibrancy that can conquer the darkest night come from? Continue reading

Enduring

Goodness, love, mercy,

charity, faith, hope,

these are all the things,

that enable me to cope.

When life is challenging,

when I want to give up,

I think on these things,

and The Lord fills my cup. Continue reading

Oh Happy Day!

Oh happy day

“Oh Happy Day!,” graphite pencil drawing by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

I feel like laughing, singing, jumping for joy…oh happy day!

I dedicate this post to my husband Stephen…I love you forever!

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!  For His mercy endures forever.” Psalm 107:1

I am sure we’ve all experienced them, those days that you awaken with a song in your heart, a delightful feeling within you that makes you want to jump for joy or laugh aloud, just because.  I am having one of those days right now.  “Oh happy day!”  That’s what I want to shout out at the top of my lungs.  What is it that’s causing me to feel this way? I have a song in my heart today!

“Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.  For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.”  Psalm 33:3-4

A Song in My Heart

I have a song in my heart today,

oh my, it’s a happy one!

I can’t get it out of my head;

it’s playing over and over.

I have a song in my heart today,

oh how it makes me smile! Continue reading

Resting in Him, trusting in Him, then I am at peace with myself and those around me.

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.”  Psalm 23:1-3

Resting in Him

Resting in Him,

there is no other way.

Resting in Him,

to be at peace today. Continue reading

To be transformed

to be transformed

“Transformation,” photograph by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

“To be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2)

I have often pondered the valuable instruction that comes from this verse from scripture; to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”  Granted, I have not always followed it; I am too stubborn and wanting to do things my own way so much of the time.  When I choose to take control and essentially, say to God, “I’ve got this, I can handle it,” those are the times that He leads me right back to this verse.  But it’s my mind, it’s my body, I argue and rationalize time and again.  However, when I think about it, I never really have or handle anything apart from my faith, and it is only when I walk in it, that my mind is renewed and I am transformed. Let your light shine…

Let your light shine for all the world to see!

Sometimes when we face difficult circumstances, it is hard to see the proverbial  “light at the end of the tunnel”.  In fact, it may seem as though that tunnel gets deeper and darker.  It is only when we come out of those times that we realize the light was there all of the time…we just could not see it.

I’ve had my fair share of dark times, when I would not let my own light shine.  When I’ve only allowed it to flicker and cast long shadows over my days.  When my moods have created dark clouds that threatened to rain droplets of disappointment, fear and negativity over anyone I’d come into contact with.  It is during those time that I realize how dismal things can become, and I long the most for the brightness of happier times. For all to come

For all to come

“Right now you are busy preparing the way…for all to come…”

“…and He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. And there shall be night no more; and they need no light of lamp, neither light of sun; for the Lord God shall give them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.” (Revelation 21:4 & 22:5)

For all to come…

Beautiful, dazzling, bright,
That’s what the world is in your sight.
No hope is lost, all dreams fulfilled,
Joy reigns in every heart. Continue reading
