Infinity – What’s in a word?

Infinity

“Infinity,” charcoal drawing (reversed), by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Infinity – What’s in a word?

The Alpha and the Omega.

The beginning and the end.

From the start to the finish.

What it takes a lifetime to spend…

Never ending, continuous, forever, horizon, eternity…

What’s in this word for you?  If you can tell me, please do!

Just thinking about infinity sends my mind far beyond tomorrow, way into the future.  To never cease to exist; to go on forever; to never end. It seems other worldly in a way…perhaps it is.  Something to think about isn’t it?

Peace,

Felecia

On the Greatness of God

On the Greatness of God

on the greatness of GodA Quote to Carry You

June 16, 2013

“It is God who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens.” Jeremiah 10:12

Whether you believe that God exists or not, it is doubtful that anyone can have lived any length of time on this earth and not wondered how we came to be.  To me, that God made the earth and all of creation is fundamental to answering that question.  The world we live in although it may seem chaotic in many respects, is so intricately designed and ordered, and so much of it is beyond human comprehension…who but God could have brought it all into existence?  Nothing comes from nothingness…but from and through God, all things are possible.

Peace to you,

Felecia

On Fatherhood

On Fatherhood

on fatherhoodA Quote to Carry You

June 9, 2014

“It is not flesh and blood but the heart which makes us fathers and sons.”  Johann Schiller

When I think of fatherhood, I think of the heart of a father.  When I think of the heart of a father, these words come to mind:  generous, stoic, caring, stern, protective, encouraging, full of a compassion that burns.

Sometimes a father’s love can be overlooked and we may not realize that all that our fathers do for us stems from hearts full of love for their children.  Father’s Day is coming soon.  May you ponder what a father’s love means to you and share it with your father on his special day.

Peace,

Felecia

Where I Belong

where i belong

“Where I Belong,” photo graph by Felecia R. Weber 2014, OntheWingofaDove.com

Where I belong…there is much comfort and safety in truly knowing where that is…

I have been doing a lot of thinking about past times lately.  Given the new and difficult experiences I’ve had to face over these past several months, it appears as though my daily life has been turned upside down.   I am likely not alone when I say that I enjoy a certain degree of comfort and security in following a familiar routine, one where I have a good idea of what to expect from day to day.  It may sound odd, but now that each day has been a bit topsy-turvy, sometimes I honestly don’t know where I belong!

Where I belong…there is much comfort and safety in truly knowing where that is.  Yes, of course I know where that is in terms of who I belong to, my husband, my family; all of those whom I love dearly.  In terms of my daily life, however, sometimes the answer is unclear.  I am secure and confident in the many different roles that I play at home, work, church; handling those things that I am responsible for.  But when life takes me by surprise, when I am forced out of my comfort zone, then where do I belong?  The answer is clear…

“I am the vine; you are the branches.  If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

Where I belong is where my heart is…knowing that makes all the difference in the world.  My sense of belonging is complete when I am in the midst of the people and things that make my heart swell.  Being where I belong is more than a place; it is a state of being. It is when I feel a sense of vibrancy, calmness, safety, that no matter what is going on around me I know that being there is exactly where I am supposed to be.  It is not something that I’ve found on my  own, rather, it is where God has placed me…it is where I belong.

Peace to you,

Felecia

Safe and Secure

safe and secure

“Beagle Puppy,” graphite pencil drawing by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Being safe and secure…two things we never need to worry about when we put our trust in God; for his provision is sure.

“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing…I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”  Psalm 23:1,4

Safe and Secure

Safe and secure,

What it means to me;

not being afraid, of what the future holds for me.

To know that I truly belong;

when I am accepted, even when I may be wrong.

Safe and secure,

Having love shown to me;

being valued and wanted in ways I can see.

Having all that I need;

to live, to be fruitful, to learn and to take heed.

Safe and secure,

Indeed, I’ll always be;

I can be nothing less, because God is here with me.

On Belonging

On Belonging

on belongingA Quote to Carry You

June 2, 2014

“That is part of the beauty of all literature.   You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you’re not lonely and isolated from anyone.  You belong.”  F. Scott Fitzgerald

Whether we realize it or not, we all belong to someone and we all impact those around us in some way by what we say, by what we do, and simply by who we are.  That is a pretty awesome responsibility when you think about it.  May you think of it often…

Peace,

Felecia

There’s No Place Like Home

no place like home

“A Country Home Residence, possibly General Moreau’s Country House at Morrisville, Pennsylvania,” 1811-1813, Pavel Petrovich Svinn. Image from a page of the 2014 Desk Calendar, courtesy of The Metropolitan Museum of Art Store

There’s no place like home…no matter how many times you return, no matter how things change…

Recently I had the opportunity, although unexpectedly, to make a trip back to my hometown.  It’s funny, because I was just thinking about how much I enjoy taking road trips, and my hometown of Erie, PA is about 6-7 hours away from my current home in New York state…depending on who’s driving that is!  Anyway, although the circumstance surrounding the reason for my trip there was not a pleasant one, the time I spent away was like a little sparkling jewel.  Indeed, there’s no place like home!

“When I think of home, I think of the place where I grew up…the place where my journey began.  When I return home for a visit, and leave again, it is like I am embarking on a whole new adventure.” Felecia R. Weber 2014, OntheWingofaDove.com

When I first stepped inside the door of my parents’ house, my senses were flooded with the smells, sounds, tastes, and feelings of the many years I’ve spent living there.  My eyes darted swiftly over the family photographs hanging on the family room wall.  I smiled and felt honored to see the many drawings and needlework displays that I painstakingly crafted long ago still decorating almost every room that I peered into.  I seemed to be energized just by the scent of the eternal pot of coffee brewing in the kitchen.  My mouth watered and my tastebuds were delighted as I treated myself to a piece of zucchini bread that my Dad had made…he uses my Grandmother’s recipe which makes it all the more special!

Since it was already evening when my Mom, Dad and I arrived from our day’s traveling, we just ate a light supper and visited a short while before turning in for the night.  I slept in my old bedroom which is adjacent to my parents’ room.  I chuckled to myself  thinking back to the nights that I had spent pecking away at the typewriter finishing up writing assignments for my college courses…I am certain that my parents were glad that the only writing I did that night was on my iPad, quietly!  Anyway, it was peaceful listening to the familiar night sounds of the house…they served as my lullaby as I dozed off into a deep, restful sleep.

I returned to New York the next day. I must admit, I was exhausted after having driven so many miles to and from my hometown all within about a 36 hour period; but I would not have traded in that little snippet of time for all the world.  Being back at home, going back to my  roots even for a brief while, it seems to have revitalized me.  Somehow, I have a deep sense of renewal and restoration; and I am ready to continue on in my life’s journey.  Upon returning from my trip, I joked with my husband saying, “I can’t believe I had to drive roughly 400 miles to get 9 solid hours of sleep!,”  but you know, sometimes it does take extreme measures to receive enriching treasures!

Wherever you go during the upcoming travel season, be it back to your own hometown or some far off land, may you be refreshed and return renewed.

Buona viaggio!

Peace,

Felecia

Life Is Good

life is good

Forest scene, photograph by David Brown

Life is good…no matter what…it’s all in how you live it!

“It is not the length of life, but the depth of life.”  Ralph Waldo Emerson

Life Is Good

Life is good.

There’s no other way to see it.

Go ahead and live your life…just be it!

Life is good.

No matter what you’ve been given.

There is no substitute for life…and livin’!

Life is good.

Sure some days will be dark.

Don’t dwell on them though; or you’ll surely miss the mark!

Life is good.

I think of life as an enormous gift.

Let the wonder of each day unfold and give your spirits a lift!

Life is good.

And just think of how much there is left in store.

Why not see for yourself; go on…just step outside the door!

Felecia R. Weber 2014, OntheWingofaDove.com

May you always see the goodness of life, no matter what you are going through…and may you always live it to the fullest.  Carpe diem!

Peace and love,

Felecia
