The Gift of Art

The Gift of Art…my art is my gift to you.

My relationship with my own art has been “on again, off again” for the past several years.  I’ve had periods of time when I’ve leaped into that creative world full force, exhibiting my work, taking on commissions, drawing just for my own pleasure.  There have also been times when I’ve quietly stepped aside and closed the door behind me, not wanting even to look at my drawing board, let alone pick it up and start sketching.

Gratefully, I have been blessed with other talents and abilities that satisfy my creative hunger in unique ways. Continue reading

For the Eye of the Beholder

for the eye of the beholder

“Sparkle,” graphite pencil drawing, Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Art is what you make it…

An artist sees the world as a blank canvas; he interprets it in his own way.  It becomes a new creation, a gift waiting to be opened and enjoyed by all who gaze upon it.

For the Eye of the Beholder

Beautiful, lovely, gorgeous,

Sensual, attractive, appealing,

Dark, deep, solemn,

Wild, lively, vibrant,

A shape, a mood, a feeling,

An object, cold and abstract,

Something heartwarming and desirable, Continue reading

“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” Pablo Picasso

Whether I am at my drawing board sketching or strolling through a corridor lined with beautiful works created by others, art is one of the things in life that I truly enjoy.  Its soothing and rejuvenating attributes are ones I never want to be without. Indeed, art is an essential part of my world.

I hope you’ll get the chance to enjoy a work of art today and experience the splendid refreshment that awaits you.

Peace,

Felecia

9/11 A Tribute to Life

9/11 A Tribute to Life

9/11 A Tribute to Life; may we always remember and may we always be grateful.

I have recently returned from a brief visit with my family during the Labor Day holiday weekend. My mind is full, my emotions tossing to and fro.  I am happy to have had a chance to visit with those whom I love so much, yet sad that the time is already behind me.  The old African proverb “It takes a village to raise a child,” comes to mind as I remember excerpts of my life; the experiences that I’ve had and the people who have influenced my life, helping to make me the person that I am today.  It is hard to fathom how many acquaintances intertwine in one person’s lifetime.  My, how precious life is and how fragile. “It is never too late to be what you might have been.”

George Eliot

As long as you are alive, you have something to give. Always use what you have been given to the fullest – you’ll be amazed by what you make from it.

Peace to you,

Felecia

A Quote to Carry You – September 2, 2013

“Nothing was ever so unfamiliar and startling to a man as his own thoughts.” (Henry David Thoreau)

It is hard to fathom the rate at which the human mind can process information, how many thoughts we carry with us at any given moment.  It amazes me how many thoughts  a single word, or a solitary image can provoke; and all of the places they may lead you to.

May your thoughts today be blessed with all of the hope and richness that the promise of a new day offers.

Peace,

Felecia

Let your light shine…

Let your light shine for all the world to see!

Sometimes when we face difficult circumstances, it is hard to see the proverbial  “light at the end of the tunnel”.  In fact, it may seem as though that tunnel gets deeper and darker.  It is only when we come out of those times that we realize the light was there all of the time…we just could not see it.

I’ve had my fair share of dark times, when I would not let my own light shine.  When I’ve only allowed it to flicker and cast long shadows over my days.  When my moods have created dark clouds that threatened to rain droplets of disappointment, fear and negativity over anyone I’d come into contact with.  It is during those time that I realize how dismal things can become, and I long the most for the brightness of happier times. For all to come

For all to come

“Tennis at Newport” (Detail), 1919, George Bellows. Image from a page of the 2012 Desk Calendar, courtesy of The Metropolitan Museum of Art Store

“Right now you are busy preparing the way…for all to come…”

“…and He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. And there shall be night no more; and they need no light of lamp, neither light of sun; for the Lord God shall give them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.” (Revelation 21:4 & 22:5)

For all to come…

Beautiful, dazzling, bright,
That’s what the world is in your sight.
No hope is lost, all dreams fulfilled,
Joy reigns in every heart. Continue reading
