For the Eye of the Beholder

for the eye of the beholder

“Sparkle,” graphite pencil drawing, Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Art is what you make it…

An artist sees the world as a blank canvas; he interprets it in his own way.  It becomes a new creation, a gift waiting to be opened and enjoyed by all who gaze upon it.

For the Eye of the Beholder

Beautiful, lovely, gorgeous,

Sensual, attractive, appealing,

Dark, deep, solemn,

Wild, lively, vibrant,

A shape, a mood, a feeling,

An object, cold and abstract,

Something heartwarming and desirable, Continue reading

Random Thoughts

random thoughts

“Sam,” graphite pencil drawing, Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Random Thoughts

My mind is scattered;

little broken pieces,

Thoughts racing ahead of me,

and they just don’t fit!

This way, that way,

where do I go next?

Stop for a moment?

There’s no time for that!

Always more to be done.

Will it ever end?

Now the day is over,

And another one has begun!

Let your light shine…

Let your light shine for all the world to see!

Sometimes when we face difficult circumstances, it is hard to see the proverbial  “light at the end of the tunnel”.  In fact, it may seem as though that tunnel gets deeper and darker.  It is only when we come out of those times that we realize the light was there all of the time…we just could not see it.

I’ve had my fair share of dark times, when I would not let my own light shine.  When I’ve only allowed it to flicker and cast long shadows over my days.  When my moods have created dark clouds that threatened to rain droplets of disappointment, fear and negativity over anyone I’d come into contact with.  It is during those time that I realize how dismal things can become, and I long the most for the brightness of happier times. Because I Love You

because I love you

“Yellow Magnolia Blossom,” colored pencil drawing, Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Because I Love You…there are so many reasons and so many ways…

Love and friendship, can you have one without the other?  I believe that both are essential for  any relationship to be true, to be real.  Love is the glue that holds a friendship together; without it, the relationship simply falls apart.

Because I Love You

How much do I love you?

Let me count the ways…

Cliche, cliche, cliche!

I don’t know what to say.

I don’t know how to feel. Continue reading

There is a time for everything

There is a Time for Everything

“Freedom”, graphite pencil drawing, Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

There is a time for everything.  I live in the northeast and our summer season is in full bloom.  The flowers in my garden have reached their peak; the grass is spotted with tan colored strands after so many days under the blazing sun.  I’ve even glimpsed some red hues staining the leaves of a few maple trees that dot the canvas of woods along my route to and from work.  These changes throughout this happy, care-free season have made me look forward to all of the things that autumn has in store for us to enjoy. God Came Down to Me

God Came Down to Me

“Pale Pink Cosmos”, Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

This poem was written by my niece and Goddaughter, Alexia, as a Christmas present to my husband and me several years ago.  I was very touched by it, because I know that it revealed so much of her heart.  Thank you Alexia, for being the precious niece that you are to me.

God Came Down to Me

A poem by Alexia D. Ghering

Each time I walked with eyes cast down

and felt too weak to reach God in prayer,

it was then, he came down to me,

As he watched my footsteps falter.

Within my heart, he poured out his grace,

and gave me strength to walk on farther; Continue reading

The Human Senses

the human senses

“Vibrant Pink Lily,” photograph by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

The Human Senses…the most amazing abilities of the human body.

I think that some of the most amazing abilities of the body are the five human senses: to see, to smell, to hear, to taste and to feel.  Even when one or more of these senses are absent from the body, the others step in and make a way for an individual to experience his or her surroundings in a powerful way.  When the eyes cannot see, fingers become lenses, filled with vivid imagery.  When the ears cannot hear, the eyes and the nose speak clearly through the silence. It really is fascinating how the senses enhance how we experience life. Continue reading

Life and living…

life and living

“Celebrate Life!,” graphite pencil drawing, Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Life and living…

I have done a lot of thinking about life and living it these days. I am the product of a multi-racial heritage. I often think of each member of my extended family as a patch of fabric all sewn together into one big, colorful blanket, That imagery has always brought comfort and warmth to my heart. With all of the racial tension surrounding us in the media recently, I can’t  help, however, to think about how my own ethnicity has impacted my life.  It seems strange to be writing about such a thing because there are so many facets to it.  I could go on  and on about the subtle events that have taken place in my past that bruised rather than lifted me up.  The things that caused me to be disappointed rather than hopeful.  There are also just as many times that I can remember being able to hold my head high, and to be proud of my accomplishments, despite any negativity that may have threatened to get in the way.

“I am living my life to the beat of my own drum and making my own beautiful music along the way.” Felecia R. Weber Continue reading
