9/11 A Tribute to Life; may we always remember and may we always be grateful.
I have recently returned from a brief visit with my family during the Labor Day holiday weekend. My mind is full, my emotions tossing to and fro. I am happy to have had a chance to visit with those whom I love so much, yet sad that the time is already behind me. The old African proverb “It takes a village to raise a child,” comes to mind as I remember excerpts of my life; the experiences that I’ve had and the people who have influenced my life, helping to make me the person that I am today. It is hard to fathom how many acquaintances intertwine in one person’s lifetime. My, how precious life is and how fragile.
Reminiscing about life causes me to pause and focus on the solemnity of what happened twelve years ago on this date. Although I did not know anyone personally who lost their life on that tragic day, my heart weeps for the loved ones of those who did. When I think of how beautiful that morning was, picture perfect weather, the start of a normal day for many, it makes me realize that every moment of life counts, and not even a second of it should be taken for granted. Indeed, we live in a fast-paced world. Everything from world affairs to technology is constantly changing. We can never go back and relive the past, we can only remember it and move forward.
What happened on September 11, 2001 was so significant and life-changing for so many, not only here in the United States, but throughout the world. I dedicate this post to all of those precious lives that were lost…may we always remember and be grateful for them.
In peace and love,
